It’s that old saying of “when in Rome, do as the Romans do”….well, I am a stickler for “rules” and when in Switzerland, I will do as the Swiss do ;)
Our time has come to an end here in Switzerland and we’re heading back to Miami soon but before we leave…I wanted to share with you a true piece of Swiss life…and the piece is called raclette. So…I hope you’re hungry because a have a delicious plate of cheese waiting just for you…I swear, you’ll love it ;)
Our time has come to an end here in Switzerland and we’re heading back to Miami soon but before we leave…I wanted to share with you a true piece of Swiss life…and the piece is called raclette. So…I hope you’re hungry because a have a delicious plate of cheese waiting just for you…I swear, you’ll love it ;)
So…I like to start a raclette night with a little salad…makes me feel less guilty about the consumption of massive melted cheese.
In order to have raclette, you need a raclette grill…which is essential a grill with “drawers” underneath it…some people will add meat to the top of the grill but we like to do raclette the all natural way…just cornichons, onions, some mushrooms, baby potatoes and definitely red wine ;)
Then you put a slice of your cheese into a tray and simply wait for the delicious (but uber stinky) cheese to melt into a deliciously creamy texture…once so, you simply pour it on to your plate and voila! Dinner is served ;)
Believe it or not…it’s a very delicious meal…and since it’s almost always too hot in Miami (and the thought of eating a plate full of melted cheese doesn’t sound as appetizing in humid weather), we always make sure to make 1 or 2 raclette dinners when we’re in Switzerland.
I know, I know…you’re thinking “she ate a block of cheese for dinner?”….and yes, I sure did and it was AMAZING!!
