After Mia, I didn’t have to do too much to lose the baby weight. It kind of came off naturally, slowly, but surely. I added a couple workouts here and there but I don’t remember being crazy fit or working out everyday. Nonetheless, I went back to my size 4 in about 9 months time and maybe even a size 2 after a year out. Well, my second pregnancy was a little different and I got postpartum preeclampsia after my son was born. I wasn’t able to get the “green light” to workout until 5 months postpartum and by then, I was really heavy…so what was I to do?
I had to start working out. I started May 22, 2016 and now, a couple months in 2017, I’m still at it…every single week. At least three times a week. I’m not going to lie, it’s freaking hard the second time around. Maybe it’s because you have less time, you’re more tired, or you’re older (damn you, age) but for me, it has been a long process. I’m finally able to get back into “SOME” of my old clothes but there are still parts of me that are just bigger. Like my breast…yes, I’m still breastfeeding little Alexander (I did 26 months with Mia) so that’s probably a big culprit but honestly, my whole rib/chest area just seems so much bigger than before. Even if I could put on some of my old clothes, there’s a high chance they won’t zip or button all the way up. Sigh.
My thighs are holding on to the most fat…doesn’t stop me from wearing my yoga pants (but maybe it should) but it’s definitely noticeable that my legs are not as thin as they were.
So anyway, I try not to get discouraged and keep at it. I know it will take time. I’m finding the joy in working out, taking a little time to myself, focusing on being strong and fit. I’ve been doing Jillian Michael’s DVD “Ripped in 30” and mixing it up with BBG Fitness. I have lost 10 pounds since I started…so although it’s a longer process this time around, it does happen.
I just need to keep reminding myself that hard work WILL ALWAYS pay off…even if it doesn’t happen in the time frame you had in mind.
My next level goals are being able to zip up some of my old dresses without needed to turn blue from “sucking it in” ;)
