Totally going old school this week by bringing back Amy Grant but there was no other song that I felt could do on this Christmas Eve. For me, it’s one of the most beautiful songs out there and the words are more meaningful then ever. In the midst of all things that have happened and continue to happen everyday, I hope that we are all able to put out good wishes of love, peace and happiness for one another. Here is “My Grown-up Christmas List” to serve as a poignant reminder of all things that truly matter (I also included the lyrics below for those of you that would like to read the words):
For starters, let me just go on the record to say that Art Basel kicked by butt. Never have I had a week quite as crazy as this past one. This was by far the biggest Art Basel in all the years that I have been attending. And bigger means more openings, parties, dinners and events…which is all fabulous but that requires stamina and enduring toe cramps (from all the heels you wear). To survive Art Basel one must be organized, RSVP’d and prepared mentally for the traffic. I was all of these things and I still almost collapsed on Sunday. Now that it’s over there is only one thing I want to do and that leads me to this week’s Musical Monday choice. It’s the fabulous MIKA sending out a message to all my fellow Miamians…so please, relax, take it easy! XOXO, Martha
So this is it…the first day of the best week in Miami…Art Basel week! I can’t even begin to tell you all how excited I am for this week. First off, I like to think of myself as a bit of a collector. I have over 30 pieces of original artwork covering almost every inch of my walls in my apartment, so I am always looking to see if something will catch my eye for my growing collection. Secondly, the fusion of fashion, art, music, food and Miami is a concoction that is truly unique. There’s something so natural about this mélange. It just works and I can’t wait to share it with you all here. For this week’s Musical Monday I wanted to post something that incorporated art and what better video than A-Ha’s “Take on Me” where art truly comes to life. Much like what will be happening… View Post
I know what you’re thinking…her taste in music lately has been saturated sugary sweet, right? Well, actually I thought this song was a perfect way to announce some big news…and since the title of the song is called “Baby”…you might have a good idea as to what I’m referring to. Yep…I’ve got a bun in the oven, awaiting a little bundle of joy, done got myself knocked-up, 100% preggo…in plain English, my hubby and I are having a baby!
Oh yes…we’re kicking off this week with a whole lot of fun and a little bit of cheesiness…but it’s all in the name of sheer fabulousness. I mean, those shorts, the highlighted hair, the feathered bangs, the gorgeous tans and the non-political “Choose Life” shirts (they were meant to raise awareness against suicide and drug abuse)…this is classic 80’s era captured on film. And honestly, I have to admit…I’m a sucker for this song. If this can’t get your week started on the right foot, nothing can. So wake up friends and start off your Monday with a Wham! XOXO, Martha PS…Congratulations to Daisy Nguyen from PS Bananas! You were randomly selected as the winner of the Leslie Tessler cape! You’re going to love it :)
